Dallas, TX – July 30, 2025 – The City of Dallas is excited to announce the opening of a new Engineer I position with the Office of Bond and Construction Management. This position is a unique opportunity for engineers to join a dynamic team that manages the planning, design, and construction of capital improvement projects across the city.

About the Position:
The Engineer I will provide engineering support to the city’s bond and construction projects, with a focus on ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in the execution of public infrastructure projects. Mechanical engineering experience is highly preferred, though candidates with a background in other engineering disciplines with appropriate previous experience in facility work are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in engineering principles, along with a passion for public service and making a tangible impact on the city’s development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, design, and review of mechanical systems for public infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Perform engineering analysis, prepare technical reports, and support project documentation.
  • Conduct inspections and assist in quality control processes during construction.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of construction schedules and budgets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, with mechanical engineering experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal building codes and regulations is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering License from the State of Texas. Professional Engineers with license/registration from other states must obtain the Texas license within six (6) months after appointment.
