Facilities Maintenance Field Supervisor

PRIMARY DUTY
The Facility Supervisor supports the planning, scheduling, and execution of facility maintenance and operational activities, helping ensure the city’s public assets remain safe, efficient, and well-maintained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides day-to-day supervision of facilities maintenance personnel, including Technicians I–III, Facility Specialists, and assists with the supervision of any contractors performing maintenance work on city-owned facilities.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of how to use necessary equipment for various functions of maintenance.
- Ability to effectively supervise personnel.
- Ability to complete daily work reports, timesheets and operation of laptop for work orders.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Provide a positive working environment for and maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees.
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills/abilities.
- Able to read blueprints.
- Experience developing cost estimates.
- Must exhibit excellent customer service skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or completion of a vocational or trade school program.
- Seven or more years of experience in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical maintenance and repair of buildings, with preference for at least three years in a municipal or governmental setting.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in supervision.
- Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
Valid Class C Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS
Various hazardous chemicals, and gasoline and diesel fuel. Work around live electrical circuits and wires. Subjected to extreme heat and cold weather and on occasion harsh working conditions.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Volt meters, Ohm meters, and various other power and hand tools.
